Woman of UTEP Award
The Women’s Resource Center takes great pride in recognizing a female graduating senior who has positively represented the University in academic excellence, involvement in and service to the UTEP community, and outstanding leadership qualities. Her cumulative GPA should be at least at 3.25. In addition, she is eligible for the award if she graduated in Summer 2009, December 2009, or will graduate in May 2010.
Woman of Valor Award
The Women’s Resource Center also recognizes an amazing woman for the Woman of Valor award. This award recognizes the remarkable journey a woman has undertaken and may currently be experiencing in making her educational pursuits a reality. There are no specific GPA requirements for this award and she may be at any point in her education.
Filling out the Application
You must be a current student (undergraduate or graduate), faculty or staff member of the University of Texas at El Paso to nominate (or self-nominate if you are a current student) a student for either award. For the Woman of UTEP award, she is eligible for the award if she graduated in Summer 2009, December 2009, or will graduate in May 2010.
Nominations
To nominate a student for these awards, please submit:
A completed nomination form.
A personal statement of 500 words from the student outlining her qualifications.
A letter from the nominator detailing why this nominee is qualified to receive the award.
For the Woman of UTEP Award: Identify and describe leadership and academic qualities, involvement in and service to the UTEP community, and personal achievements.
For the Woman of Valor Award: Identify and describe personal qualities, character-building experiences or any other special challenges this woman has had to or currently endures.
If you are self-nominating, you must provide a letter of recommendation from a UTEP faculty or staff member.
NOTE:
The nominator is responsible for turning in nomination packets by 5 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Women’s Resource Center, 112 Union West.
Incomplete packets will not be accepted.
