UTEP Mine Tracker

The UTEP Mine Tracker is YOUR roadmap to success; preparing students for an ever-changing global market.  The Mine Tracker lists activities, a co-curriculum, that students can get involved with from four different learning dimensions that compliments what is being taught in the classroom.  Engaging in the Mine Tracker enables students to be recognized for their out-of-classroom involvement and share their accomplishments with others by populating a co-curricular transcript.  Visiting the UTEP Mine Tracker site provides students a comprehensive overview of involvement opportunities available at The University of Texas at El Paso.  (Link to UTEP Mine Tracker website)

Volunteer in the Community

Volunteering in our local community is a great way for students to gain an understanding of the needs of others and enhance their leadership skills.  The Center for Civic Engagement is where students can choose to volunteer from various community involvement options. Students are encouraged to participate and make a difference in our community either through ongoing or one day projects.  (Link to Center for Civic Engagement website)

See a Theater or Music Performance!

UTEP’s Department of Theater and Dance offers exceptional, high-quality and professional performances each year that showcase the endless talent of our students.  Take advantage of the involvement opportunities that these shows provide our community by taking the time to view a show or even becoming involved in the production of the show.  Many of our talented alumni who are currently pursuing careers in Engineering, Business and the Health Professions were involved in theater, dance and musical productions at UTEP; an experience they value immensely and strongly endorse in order to be a well-rounded individual.  Visit http://www.theatredance.utep.edu/Site/Home.html for more information.

Represent the Student Body

Produce the Student Newspaper or Magazine: The Prospector and El Minero

Students representing a variety of disciplines and majors at UTEP help write and publish the bilingual/bicultural student newspaper and student magazine.  Working on these publications provides students with a professional, hands-on work experience that benefits them greatly in the future especially if they choose to pursue a journalism career.  Students strive to ensure that their newspaper and magazine reflect the voice and opinions of UTEP’s student community and are grateful for an opportunity to be involved on campus that has such a long-lasting impact.  http://sa.utep.edu/studentpublications/
