The Student Government Association (SGA) created the House of Representatives to increase student involvement at UTEP, increase the input of UTEP students in SGA the decision making process, and to optimally address the needs of students at UTEP. Below is a list of representative positions we currently have:

  • Hispanic Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to Hispanic students and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Diversity Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to racial and ethnic equality and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • International Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to international students and will work on special projects to improve those issues.They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Equality Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to gender equality and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Religious and Spiritual Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to religious and spiritual groups and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Special Interest Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to UTEP students not represented through the other representative positions and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Non-Traditional Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to non-traditional students (those returning to school/beginning their studies not right after their high school graduation) and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Military Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to military students and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Miner Pride Representative (2 positions)
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to school spirit and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Athletics Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to UTEP Athletics and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Recreational Sports Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to recreational sports on campus and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Fraternity Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to fraternity life on campus and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Sorority Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to sorority life on campus and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Miner Canyon Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to Miner Canyon and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Miner Heights Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to Miner Heights and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Miner Village Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to Miner Village and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Student Life Representative (2 positions)
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to student life on campus and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Freshman Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to freshman classified students (0-29 credit hours) and will work on special projects to improve those issues.They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Sophomore Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to sophomore classified students (30-59 credit hours) and will work on special projects to improve those issues.They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Junior Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to junior classified students (60-89 credit hours) and will work on special projects to improve those issues.They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Senior Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to senior classified students (90+ hours) and will work on special projects to improve those issues.They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Graduate Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to graduate students on campus and will work on special projects with the Collegiate Senator for the Graduate School to improve those issues.They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area. This representative will be chosen with the help of the UTEP Graduate Student Assembly (GSA).
  • Teacher’s Assistant Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to Teacher’s Assistants on campus and will work on special projects to improve those issues.They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Research Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to research on campus and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Special Accommodation Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to students with special accommodations on campus and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Legislative Affairs Representative – (2 positions: one is a one year term and the other is a two year term)
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related local, state, and national government that impact UTEP students. These representatives will also be responsible for working on special projects to improve civic engagement on campus. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area. This representative will work closely with the SGA Vice President of External Affairs on issues related to political policy.
  • Fox Fine Arts Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to students within the Fox Fine Arts Building and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
  • Sustainability Representative
    • Will be responsible for collecting data on issues related to creating a sustainable and environmentally friendly campus and will work on special projects to improve those issues. They will also advise the executive, legislative, and judicial branch on issues relating to their representative area.
