Who’s Who Amongst Students in American Universities and Colleges – recognizes outstanding campus leaders for their scholastic and community achievements. Those who are ultimately chosen for this honor must be a Junior, Senior or Graduate Student at UTEP, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and demonstrate outstanding “Campus Involvement & Service” as well as outstanding “Community Involvement & Service” in these areas: UTEP Honors & Awards, Community Service, and Community Honors & Awards.
Men and Women of Mines – The oldest honor that UTEP bestows upon its students, Men and Women of Mines, recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding service to the University. Those who are ultimately chosen for this honor must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2, have completed at least 90 credit hours, have not received this award before, and demonstrate outstanding “Campus Involvement and Service” in these areas: Student Organizations & Campus Activities, College & Academic Departments, and University-Wide Committees.
Woman of UTEP Award – The SELC takes great pride in recognizing a female graduating senior who has positively represented the University in academic excellence, involvement in and service to the UTEP community, and outstanding leadership qualities. Her cumulative GPA should be at least 3.25.
Woman of Valor Award – The SELC also recognizes an amazing woman for the Woman of Valor award. This award recognizes the remarkable journey a woman has undertaken and may currently be experiencing in making her educational pursuits a reality. There are no specific GPA requirements for this award and she may be at any point in her education.
UTEP Student Leadership Awards – Leadership development, academic achievement, and service to the community are key elements for success on a university campus. Students who excel in these areas deserve to be recognized for their achievements. The Student Engagement & Leadership Center (SELC) and the Student Government Association (SGA) host the annual “UTEP Student Leadership Awards.” The program is designed to celebrate and pay tribute to the many contributions student leaders and recognized student organizations have made to the community throughout the academic year. The program includes three different award categories (Men & Women of Mines, Who’s Who In American Colleges & Universities, Registered Student Organization Awards) and special recognition for elected leaders of the Student Government Association. Recipients for awards are selected by small groups of faculty, staff, and students. This program will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016.
