The Women’s and Gender Studies Program, Rainbow Miner Initiative, and the UTEP Alumni PRIDE Network invite you, your family and friends to attend the 14th Annual Rainbow Graduation Reception
At the end of every school year, thousands of students at the University of Texas at El Paso receive their degree, be it Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate. Within those thousands of students are some very special students who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or intersex. For some of these students, being open about their orientation or gender identity has presented unique challenges along with their everyday commitments of home, school, and oftentimes work. Because of this we would like to take the time to recognize these outstanding students who have shown pride in who they are and what they have achieved.
The Rainbow Graduation Reception will be held this year at the Peter and Margaret de Wetter Center (Alumni Lodge) on May 13, from 6-8pm and will reward and celebrate all graduating students for their hard work and determination at obtaining a college degree while openly expressing their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. We reward their commitment to their education and celebrate those gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex students who have chosen to let their identity become a part of who they are along with the success of their education.
Graduating Students: If you graduated December 2015 or will be graduating in the Spring, Summer or Fall of 2016 and would like to walk in Rainbow Graduation please register here.
Attendees: What is a graduation without the family, friends, faculty, and staff that helped support our graduating students? Register to attend this year’s Rainbow Graduation Reception here.
