About the Program
Programa de Asistencia Estudiantil (PASE) is a financial assistance program for Mexican students. This program grants participants a tuition discount allowing them to pay the same tuition rate as Texas residents. Because UTEP receives funding from the State of Texas, it is required to set a different tuition rate for the residents of the State of Texas (in-state tuition) and those that reside outside the state (out of state tuition), including international students. Mexican students who are recipients of the PASE Program will pay in-state tuition.
The program lasts an academic cycle, beginning in fall and covering the spring and summer semesters of the next year. Once the student is approved for the PASE Program, s/he must recertify or re-apply every year to continue under the program.
How to Qualify
• Be a Mexican citizen or permanent resident
• Prove with supporting documentation that the family income is within the program approval ranges
• Turn in a complete PASE application.
• Meet UTEP admission requirements
How to Apply
• Submit an Admission application (Graduate School or Undergraduate Admission) along with all the required documentation (transcripts, letter of recommendation etc.)
• Attend a PASE orientation session
• Fill out both the PASE and CFR form.
• Fill out one PASE application per student
• Submit application with supporting financial documents to our office
• The application MUST have a notary seal (the notary can be from the U.S. or Mexico)
The processing time for PASE applications is approximately 2 weeks (When submitted complete).
In order to guarantee new Mexican international students enough time to complete the admission process, we have priority dates. Priority dates indicate that we can promise we’ll process your PASE/CFR application with enough time for you to complete all admission requirements and come for the next available semester. All applications submitted after the priority deadline will be accepted but no guarantee is made that the student will have enough time to complete all requirements and be issued a student visa by the start of classes.
Important! It is expected that every academic year there is a change in tuition. Because of this, the application for the academic year 2012-2013 covering Fall 2012, Spring 2013 and Summer 2013 semesters will change. This application will not be available until March 2012. Summer applicants will continue to use the current form (academic year 2011-2012).
The priority deadline for Summer 2012 is April 2, 2012.
The priority deadline for Fall 2012 is July 9, 2012.
