General information on U.S. passports

The UTEP Passport Acceptance Facility is open Monday to Friday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.

The facility operates by online appointment ONLY, to obtain an appointment you must log on to our website by 8:00am the day of.

Please make sure to bring all the requirements at the moment of the appointment in order to avoid any delay.

Passports for children under 16 years of age


(First passport and renewal)

All children under 16 years cannot submit the application on his own behalf. Both parents or legal guardians must appear with the child and give consent for the passport is issued.
If a parent or guardian can not be presented, then the DS-11 form must be accompanied by a DS-3053 form: Statement of Consent notarized by the parent or legal guardian absent.

Passports for 16- and 17-year-old

Applicants 16 or 17 years with proper identification can apply for a passport in his own name. that at least one parent is present with the child is recommended to identify and to record their knowledge of the passport application.

  • DS-11 form completed at the time of the appointment
  • Original Proof od Citizenship (birth certificate or naturalization certificate)
  • Valid State ID (Drive license, state ID, US passport, B1/B2 visa)
  • **Mandatory to bring a copy of your valid state ID (Front and Back)**
  • 2 photos 2×2
  • 2 Separate payments
    • 1 to Department of State
    • 1 to UTEP
