The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board selects UTEP’s Good Neighbor Scholarship recipients. The competition includes all State supported institutions of higher education in the State of Texas. The Good Neighbor Scholarship provides a waiver of tuition costs per credit hour to its recipients. This scholarship covers only tuition costs and the recipients are still responsible for any remaining charges, which include all fees.
The recipients are responsible for notifying the Office of Scholarships, located at the Academic Services Bldg., Room 202, of any change in the residency status. If any funds are disbursed to the recipient by the Scholarship Office, it is an error, and the recipient is liable for paying those funds back to the university.
PLEASE NOTE: If you should be awarded The Good Neighbor Scholarship, be advised that it is NOT automatically renewed every year. Recipients must reapply each year for receipt of this scholarship for the following academic year. In addition, the Good Neighbor Scholarship cannot be automatically transferred from one university to another. Please contact the Office of International Programs if you should have any questions regarding obtaining, maintaining or transferring the Good Neighbor Scholarship.
