» MONEY MATTERS

If I am assigned a room, how will I know if financial aid is covering my rent?

You must make sure the loan/grant you are receiving will cover the cost of your rent, and that you are arranging for it to be paying for rent.  Financial aid will always cover a student’s tuition first, and then take care of housing or other charges.  Many students assume that the money is being spent in the areas that they need, and get surprised with late charges and letters from our office notifying them of eviction.

Is my deposit refundable when I move out?

A resident who stays during their entire contract, and has not incurred any damages at the time of check-out, will receive their deposit back within 30 days of their departure.

When is rent due?

Rent is due on the 5th of every month. If the 5th falls on a weekend, rent is due the following Monday. Failure to pay rent will result in late fees. If you do come by to pay rent and our accounting specialist is out of the office, please e-mail her at erurbina@utep.edu.
