Housing
Some of the buildings used on the UTEP campus were once Sorority Houses. For example, the Alumni Lodge today was once the Zeta Tau Alpha house and the Honors House was once the Lambda Chi Alpha House.  Today the University does not recognize Fraternity & Sorority housing.

Sweetheart Programs
In the late 60’s and early 70’s there was a national rise in Sweetheart Progams whose purpose was to be sweethearts or good friends to help fraternities with many of their every day tasks such as fundraising and philanthropic events. Today these organizations have been banned and most National Fraternities do not recognize sweethearts.
