Accessibility and Disability Services
The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) provides the opportunity to future miners to learn about the academic programs and support services offered at UTEP during the annual Orange and Blue Day event. At least twice a year high school students and their families are invited to join the current Miners, faculty and staff at the free event from
8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. to learn about the different programs at UTEP.
As part of the Division of Student Affairs, The Center for Accommodations and Support Services (CASS) will provide accessibility services during Orange and Blue Day for students and their families that will be attending the event. CASS asks any students or families who will need wheelchair accessibility to contact CASS in advance. CASS is formerly known as The Disabled Student Services Office (DSSO)
Students and their family members with disabilities needing accommodations are asked to contact
The Center for Accommodations and Support Services (CASS) to ensure proper arrangements are made prior to the event.
Their accessibility services include:
- ASL interpreter services will be provided during both the English and Spanish language orientations programs for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Each session, will be repeated once (9:30a.m. and 10:30a.m.) and are expected to be 45 minutes in length.
- The sessions will be offered both in English and Spanish.
- The English sessions will be at the Union Cinema located in the 1st floor of the Union East Building room 109.
- The Spanish sessions will be at the Tomas Rivera Conference Center located in the 3rd floor of the Union East Building 308.
- Guests needing accessible seating for the ASL interpreter are asked to visit the tables that will be stationed outside the Tomas Rivera Conference Center and the Union Cinema so a CASS staff member can direct you to the designated seating.

UNION CINEMA

- A scribe will be provided to assist students with the completion of Admission Application.
- An information table will be available from The Center for Accommodations and Support Services (CASS) to provide information to students and their families on the variety of accommodations and support services available for students with disabilities.
- The CASS Office, temporarily located in 302 UTEP Union East, will also be open for visitors during the event.
- Accessible entrances to UTEP Union East for guests with mobility-related disabilities are found at two locations.
- First floor access is off the accessible parking at the east entrance of the building.
- Second floor access is available via a ramp from Kerbey Street.
- Wheelchair availability and escorts will be provided at four primary locations on campus for transportation purposes that include:
- UTEP Union Building East
- Miner Village
- Student Recreation Center
- Sun Bowl parking garage

For all participating students and their family members, ramps will be available to ensure access to the first and second floors of the Union East Building. The elevator, located near the east entrance of the building, is needed to access the Tomas Rivera Conference Center on the building’s third floor. Please contact our office in advance if you need special accommodating during the event or to R.S.V.P if you will be needing wheelchair assistance.
