What’s your major?

I am currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering . I hope to obtain an internship to gain pre-professional experience and make my way into the engineering industry upon graduation.

What have you learned as a Peer Career Advisor?

During my time here at the University Career Center, I‘ve learned and drastically improved on an abundance of skills that have helped me to develop professionally. Being here has really allowed me to improve my communication skills, as well as my presenting skills. Whereas before I was really shy, always keeping to myself and hardly saying a word, by interacting with students on a daily basis and conducting class presentations, I’ve turned my weakest aspects into my strongest ones.

What are you involved in on and off campus?

I am Involved with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

What’s your major?

I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering, as well as pursuing a minor in Computer Science. I want to obtain a lot of experience throughout my undergraduate career to be a skilled engineer in the workforce.

What are you involved in on and off campus?

I am involved in several engineering student organizations; I was an officer for UTEP MAES/SHPE, which stands for Latinos in Science and Engineering, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. I am currently an officer for the UTEP ASME Chapter, which stands for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. These leadership positions have helped me a lot to develop my leadership skills, and to network among my peers and professors in the College of Engineering. I am also a part of the UTEP Miners Hockey Club, we play in the Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference of the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
