Welcome
The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) has been implemented to address student needs through a multi-faceted program of academic assistance, supportive services, and financial assistance. The goals establish a basis for first year academic objectives with follow-up supportive services to facilitate retention through graduation. The major goals of the UTEP-CAMP are to: 1) offer migrant youth an educational opportunity to explore and develop their academic potential through an academic assistance program that will lead to their attainment of a bachelor’s degree; 2) assist rural migrant youth in the socialization processes necessary to adapt to the environment of a modern, urbanized society through a system of supportive services, thereby generating in them the confidence needed to negotiate the bureaucracy associated with higher education; and to 3) increase migrant youths’ opportunities for entry into progressive, highly rewarding occupations that are a result of successful post-secondary academic credentials by providing a financial assistance program that will shift their focus from basic survival to educational attainment.
